What is Cytology?
It is the study of dispersed cells. The method of preparation of these specimens in the laboratory requires different equipment and different types of stains. Although the relationship of cells with supporting tissues cannot be assessed in these types of specimens, it is a very important screening or diagnostic tool when examined by qualified pathologists.
